Shamian Island is an historical area with European style buildings dating back to the colonial period. It's a quite pedestrian place with streets flanked by trees. It's one of the preferred location for wedding photo shootings (they use to shoot in advance to the wedding so that photographs are ready the day of the wedding). Dongshankou is another interesting area with old buildings downtown Guangzhou.
